School put on lockdown as armed cops rush to scene after online threats of ‘person with gun’

A SCHOOL has been put on lockdown after someone claiming to have a GUN made threats online.

Armed cops rushed to Golborne High School, Wigan, to evacuate staff and teachers shortly before 11am this morning.

The threats were made “over the internet” and no-one has approached the area with a firearm, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

Chief Inspector Liz Sanderson, of GMPs Wigan Division, said: “Armed officers have been deployed to the scene and the school has been locked down as a precaution. 

“The threats were made over the internet and no-one has approached the area with a firearm.

“I’d like to reassure the public that officers will remain at the scene while we investigate.”
