WATCH: Horner’s ‘Rogue’ Marshal Gets to Meet Max Verstappen After Qatar GP F1 Saga

The Qatar Grand Prix was a disappointing one for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver was beaten by his arch-rival Lewis Hamilton in Sunday’s race. But the drama escalated after the Grand Prix, as Red Bull’s Christian Horner made some remarks about the marshal. This incident saw the team boss visit the stewards.

In Saturday’s qualifying session, Pierre Gasly suffered a horrible puncture, which causes the yellow flags to be brought out. Verstappen who was trying to steal pole position failed to slow down. He was later given a 5-place grid penalty. Horner wasn’t pleased about it, and before the race, he criticized the marshal who waved the yellow flag.

Seeing this, the stewards from the FIA organized the marshal to meet Verstappen.

Horner had made some remarks about the marshal that didn’t go well with the stewards. This saw him pay a visit to them after the Qatar Grand Prix.

Knowing that the marshal was innocent, the stewards ensured that they organized a meet with the Red Bull prodigy. A gesture that was loved by the Formula One community.

What did Horner say about the marshall?

Verstappen was trying to steal pole position from Lewis Hamilton in Saturday’s qualifying session. However, before he could do that, Alpha Tauri’s Gasly suffered a puncture, which brought the yellow flags.

The Dutch driver failed to slow down, and before Sunday’s race was given a grid penalty. Horner wasn’t pleased and made comments which didn’t suit the stewards.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, “I think it’s just a rogue marshal that’s stuck a flag out. He has not been instructed to by the FIA. They’ve got to have control of their marshals, it’s as simple as that.”

However, Horner is satisfied with Verstappen’s race, as came second after starting the race in seventh place. With a week off from Formula One, he hopes that his team can bounce back at Jeddah and prevent their arch-rivals, Mercedes from winning the next race.
