WWE Survivor Series results, grades: Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch and Omos win big

Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch stood tall to bookend WWE Survivor Series with two fantastic bouts.

The company spent time celebrating Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson – who made his WWE in-ring debut at the same pay-per-view in 1996 – throughout the night, but it was the current stars who had the spotlight with the Great One nowhere to be seen.

Despite that, the night started and ended with two very different but stellar match-ups, kicking off with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch facing off in a bout blurring the lines between reality and fiction.

Metro.co.uk was live at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York to take in the action first hand.

After all the speculation and comments surrounding their recent Championship Exchange Ceremony, the opening clash delivered in a big way as the Queen and The Man fought in a stiff and engaging match-up.

This was everything it needed to be and more, with the live crowd fully into everything both superstars did.

In the end, Lynch reversed Flair’s attempt at a roll-up using the ropes, and employed the same tactic – this time without the referee catching it – to steal the win.

Up next, the Men’s Survivor Series match kicked off with some drama as Kevin Owens simply walked out on his teammates because they saw him as a lowlife.

From there, Happy Corbin and King Woods got eliminated before Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley fought to a double count out.

Sheamus was able to drop Finn Balor with a Brogue Kick, but later ended up getting eliminated by Austin Theory, who in turn got taken out by Jeff Hardy.

The crowd were fully in the corner of the Charismatic Enigma, but in the end Seth Rollins reserved the Swanton Bomb to emerged as the sole survivor.

The 25-man Battle Royal celebrating The Rock’s 25th anniversary was largely uneventful besides the domination of Omos, who did well here despite his inexperience – and he eventually taking out Richochet in a very hot ending to what had been a lukewarm bout.

Up next, Randy Orton made history with his 177th pay-per-view bout and marked it with a win as he and Riddle defeated The Usos.

This was always going to be a fantastic match, and it delivered some great action even without any stakes (something that harmed the evening as a whole).

The Women’s Survivor Series match followed and treated fans to some fantastic action, although those in attendance didn’t response in kind.

Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks facing off drew a huge reaction from the crowd, but the in-ring action deserved more as Shotzi and Toni Storm were both given the chance to shine.

In the end, Banks was screwed by her teammates and the EST of WWE looked like a star as she overcame her rivals to win for Raw.

Finally, the main event was a spectacular heavyweight clash between Roman Reigns and Big E, who both did a brilliant job of getting the fans back into the action.

It was the Tribal Chief who got the win, with the only disappointment being no appearance from The Rock – although WWE never said he would be there, outside of the tributes paid on the night.

There was also a tie-in with Dwayne’s new movie Red Notice involving Vince McMahon and a golden egg getting stolen – but it remains to be seen if that will be followed up on tonight on Raw.
