Giuseppe Dell’Anno was crowned winner of the Great British Bake Off 2021 and everyone’s pretty chuffed for him.

The Italian engineer, 45, sailed his way through to tonight’s finale on Channel 4 and won despite a series of oven issues during the showstopper challenge.

Reacting to his victory, Giuseppe initially said he was ‘speechless’ before crediting his win to his elderly father and Italian heritage – by the way, he’s now become the first Italian to ever win a Bake Off series.

Viewers were pleased for the amateur, with one tweeting: ‘Huge Congratulations to Giuseppe, the 2021 Great British Bake Off Winner! I’m absolutely delighted for him, I said at the start that he would be the winner and sure enough he has!’

Another commented: ‘After the injustice of Jürgen going home last week, so glad Giuseppe won. Absolutely deserved it!’

One said: ‘F*****g get in Giuseppe! Well deserved winner all the way through the series.’

BRILLIANT 😀 if we couldn’t have Jürgen I am pleased it is Giuseppe, he is a worthy winner.

Not ready to see the champ leave their screen, one called for a Giuseppe and Jürgen spin-off, while another chimed in: ‘Italy won Eurovision, Euro 2020, Men’s 100m Olympic gold and now the big one! Congrats Giuseppe on winning 2021.

‘Commiserations Crystelle & Chigs. The standard this #BakeOff series been phenomenal.’

One devoted Giuseppe fan added: ‘Not sure i could’ve coped with Giuseppe not winning.’

The father-of-three saw off competition from Crystelle Pereira and Chigs Parmar.

After being handed the title, Giuseppe said: ‘There are no words, I am speechless for once. All I can think of is the reaction from my mum and dad.

‘The fact is that everything I have done to deserve this comes from (dad’s) heritage, it’s the best thank you note I can possibly send him.’

He now plans on releasing a book with his father to ensure their family recipes are passed on.

The Great British Bake Off is available to watch on All 4.
