“I Clearly Won That Fight”- Colby Covington Makes a Bizarre Statement After Kamaru Usman Loss
Colby Covington is the former UFC interim welterweight champion of UFC. The #1 170lbs contender failed twice in his efforts to lay his hands on the welterweight gold strap. ‘Chaos’ suffered a knockout loss in his first slugfest against the champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 245. Surprisingly, after one win under his belt, Colby bagged a title rematch against the Nigerian-born.
Unfortunately, Covington, after a five-round gruesome battle, lost again at the hands of ‘The Nigerian Nightmare‘ at UFC 268. However, Colby believes he clearly won the fight this time around.
In his recent interaction with the Submission Radio, ‘Chaos’ said, “Similar to last time, I came out a little bit quicker. I wanted to see what the media was going to say and I am still not happy with what they’re saying. I don’t know why they are running these narratives like this guy is the greatest of all time.”
“He’s the pound-for-pound number one fighter. I mean, the fans saw it that night. Just because three judges were in there and they scored it a certain way, the fans and the millions of people watching worldwide saw with their clear eyes what happened in that fight. I clearly won that fight three to two.”

“The third, fourth, and fifth rounds were my round. And even if you were looking at a different side of the scope, I think you could see me winning the first round, too.”
“It was very close and competitive… We fought two times after ten rounds. At the worst, I am winning six rounds to four. So I think there needs to be another fight. Three needs to be a trilogy if he stays around,” Colby said, challenging Usman to a third encounter to settle the debate.
Will Colby Covington Get a Trilogy Fight Against Kamaru Usman
‘Chaos’ is one of the best welterweight fighters in the UFC currently. He has a professional fighting record of 16-3 under his name. Furthermore, he has already lost two of his title shots but still wants to continue the run.
Even after facing defeat twice, he is looking eyeing for a trilogy bout with Usman. However, a few of the other fighters from the welterweight division are also in the title fight picture.

One of them is Leon Edwards. The Brit currently holds the #3 position in the 170lbs roster and is currently on an amazing nine-fight undefeated streak of his UFC career.
Ever since his win over the Stockton native Nate Diaz, ‘Rocky’ has been asking for a shot at the welterweight gold. Considering his undefeated run in the division, the Brit is one viable prospect for the title.
However, the UFC set him up against ‘Gamebred’ on the main card of UFC 269. Unfortunately, the latter pulled out of the fight. This left the Brit without a dance partner. Hence, the UFC might give him the title shot next, according to reports.
