Formula 1, in recent years, has spread its wings wide enough to gain recognition from around every corner of the world. This, consequently, has led to the substantial rise in fan-following for the sport, with numerous fans still yearning to witness an F1 car for the first time in real life.
But, how amazing would it be to walk by such a powerful car every single day of your life? We would call it a godsend! Of course, the dream might be a bit too far-fetched for most of the spectators, but, certainly not for former F1 CEO, Bernie Ecclestone.
Bernie Ecclestone, until his very last day as a Formula 1 CEO, made his presence felt in the paddock by showing up to the grid ahead of the Grand Prix events, taking a peek at the cars lined up. Well, even after 4 years since his withdrawal from the sport, he continues to enjoy the presence of an F1 car in his very home.

During an auction in 2018, the 91-year-old bought Ayrton Senna’s 5-time Grand Prix-winning McLaren MP4/8-6 for around €4.1 million. And since then, there has hardly been news surrounding this insane buy. So, here’s something interesting that has come up after a rather quiet 3 years.

Apparently, the ‘Marlboro’ McLaren is now on display at Ecclestone’s house in the study room behind glass. The car is in the wall, with the floor tilted towards the room and white lights keeping the car as shiny as ever. Ayrton Senna’s helmet is also rested on top of the left side-pod of the car.
Is the car in drivable condition?
Well, quite hard to say, considering it has been years since anyone fired up the Ford engine. However, if needed, the car can be on the track. This is because it isn’t just the bodywork of the McLaren MP4/8 that is behind glass, but a completely built car with the Ford HB engine and gearbox.

Not just some gearbox, but the gearbox that Senna used to secure his historic 6th win around the streets of Monte Carlo. Overall, this is some showpiece to have at one’s house. So, let’s hear it from you; which F1 car would you prefer to have on display at your home?
