Jannik Sinner Joins Juan Martin Del Potro in Elite List After Successful Season

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has registered one of his best seasons on the Tour this year. After reaching his first ATP Masters 1000 final and winning titles at the Great Ocean Road Open and the Sofia Open, he has managed to climb up the rankings to a great extent.

Jannik Sinner will end the 2021 season as the World’s No. 10 player. In doing so, he has found himself in the elite company of the great Argentine, Juan Martin del Potro. Sinner became the youngest player to achieve the feat of finishing in the top 10 rankings. The previous player to do so was del Potro in 2008. He finished the year as the 9th best player in the world that season.

Jannik Sinner has grown immensely as a player

In the 2020 season, Sinner was ranked as the 37th player in the world. To see him make a significant jump this season clearly highlights his improvement and growth in the game. However, the top 10 has been published with Djokovic, 34, at No. 1 for a record seventh time.

But more about youth overall. The average age of the Top 10 was less than 26 years old (at 25.6), the youngest since 2009 (25.0).

Jannik was later seen at the ATP Finals as a fill-up for the injured Berrettini. The 20-year-old player competed in two matches. In the first, he managed to sweep past Hurkacz in straight sets. After that, he faced Medvedev, where the Russian player won the match. Despite losing the game, he stretched up to three sets.

After impressing one and all this season, Sinner will take a lot of positives from it. He will look to train hard during the off-season in order to kick start proceedings on a high note. All eyes will be on him when he steps on the courts at the Australian Open 2022.
