Kevin Garnett on Leaving Michael Jordan Out of His All-Time Starting Lineup: ‘I Respect Mike. I Respect Everything About Him. I Love You Michael Jordan. That’s My Dog’

Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett hasn’t ever shied away from outrightly expressing his opinions. In fact, he is known to take the opportunity to throw shade at those he doesn’t get along with like Tum Duncan, LeBron James, and even Ray Allen. So, when he gets a chance to be brutally honest, he takes it and that’s what he did when he was asked to list his all-time starting five and excluded Michael Jordan from it.

Garnett appeared on the ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ podcast, during which he was asked to list his all-time starting five. Not only did he include himself, which isn’t surprising at all, but what is, is that he did not mention Michael Jordan. So, his ideal starting five included Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Wilt Chamberlain, and himself.

“Magic at one because he is 6’9″ and he sees everybody, right,” he started off. He almost listed Jordan next but went with Kobe Bryant instead and when he was being questioned, he made his decision clear by repetitively stating, “I got Kobe at my two.  I know you’re gonna say MJ, shout out to MJ, he the god and we copied him, but I’m gonna put Kobe at my two.”

His next choice was supposed to be Allen Iverson, but he wanted to build a taller team, so he picked Kevin Durant next. And finally, Wilt Chamberlain and himself.

Kevin Garnett has only love for Michael Jordan

One of the hosts of the podcast, rapper Gillie Da King was absolutely appalled by the fact that Jordan would be coming off the bench if it were up to KG. However, the Boston Celtics legend made it clear that he admires Jordan very much but it is what it is.

Garnett accepted that his list is crazy. He didn’t put Larry Bird, LeBron James, neither did he add Bill Russell. “I ain’t put a bunch of cats on my list. I am talking about dogs. Everybody I just named is going to be at your ass,” he added.

However, he only had praises for Jordan. He said, “I Respect Mike. I Respect Everything About Him. I Love You Michael Jordan. That’s My Dog. But I just told you my list…”

Looks like there is no changing Kevin’s mind. It is hard to believe when Jordan isn’t the first choice for anyone who has to name their starting five. But Garnett has his reasons and one has to respect that as well.
