“Marty Come Here” – Colby Covington Reveals What He Said to Kamaru Usman in the Exchange After the Fight
UFC 268 was one of the biggest events of the year. It had some great fights but none bigger than Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington 2. Long-time rivals met for the first time back in 2019, when Usman got the better of Covington and was one of the fights of the year. After a lot of anticipation, the second fight was booked, and it did not disappoint. Both men went after each other from the star, and ultimately the champion won via a unanimous decision.
Surprisingly, after the fight, both men, who have no love for each other, were seen showing respect to each other. However, ‘Chaos‘ denied that. When asked about what exactly did he say to Usman after the fight, he said, “If you guys want to know what I said to him in that exchange. I went up to him, I’m like, Marty come here. Come here, Marty, a little closer, closer, Marty little closer. Use promo code Colby at mybookie.ag.”
Covington even talked about referee Dan Miragliotta, and what he said after the fight and him breaking them up. He said, “Yeah, that was uncalled from Miragliotta. He’s a fantastic ref. He does a great job inside the cage. I mean, he did let Marty cheat a couple of times, but that was just uncharacteristic of him. I wanted to make sure Marty really knew what my code was in mybookie because those people love us so much. They take care of us so it was uncool.”
However, a fan on Twitter transcribed what he said to Usman after the fight. Colby Covington said, “You know I’m just trying to sell the fight, for you too, so get that money bro, its all love.”
Colby Covington wants a rematch against Kamaru Usman
UFC 268 main event was a great fight. Covington and Usman went at each other for five rounds. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare‘ won the fight via unanimous decision. However, many believe it was closer than that. One who certainly thinks that way is Covington. He thought he won three rounds, and there should be a trilogy fight.
He said, “I clearly won that fight three to two. The third, fourth and fifth-round were my round. And even if you were looking on a different side of the scope, I think you could see me winning the first round too.”
“There needs to be a trilogy if he stays around,” Covington said. “After fighting me two times, I think he realizes how serious I am and how bad I want that belt. So I don’t know if he’s willing to die in that octagon like I am… You know I’m gonna get my shot back at him if he doesn’t retire first. He might retire and just go on, you know, ride off in the sunset. But if not, I’m looking for that Marty trilogy.”
Many believe that ‘Chaos’ took Usman down as well, however, the judges did not give him the two takedowns. Usman is currently looking to fight Canelo Alvarez, and there is Leon Edwards, still in the waiting. If Covington can beat a top contender, a trilogy fight won’t be such a far-fetched idea.
What did you make of the brief exchange they had at the end? Do you think there should be a trilogy fight? Let us know in the comments!
