Sherri Shepherd is returning to the Wendy Williams Show as a guest host after smashing her latest stint on the series.

Wendy was recently forced to take time off from her eponymous show to focus on her recovery after a series of health issues.

And, following her successful appearance on the small screen earlier this month, Sherri will be taking up the role once again in December while she recuperates.

Confirming the news, the Dish Nation star said in a statement: ‘I had so much fun the first time around, I can’t wait to come back to play again.

‘I was thrilled to learn that my hosting week in November was so well received by the loyal viewers of this show.

‘It’s not easy to do what Wendy has successfully done for so many years. I am grateful to Wendy, the entire Wendy Williams team and Wendy’s fans for trusting me to host for another week.

‘It’s been a dream come true, and I can’t wait to bring back my brand of flirty-fun, fabulous guests and feel good excitement when I return in December.’

Sherri also shared the news on Instagram, telling fans: ‘You shouted it out and the powers that be heard! @wendyshow asked me back!

‘Thank you #wendywilliams for giving me the chance and all of the Fans for your support! I am screaming!!!’

The former View host will be picking up hosting duties from December 13 – 17.

Wendy recently assured viewers that she is focusing on her health after contracting a ‘breakthrough case of coronavirus’ in September – with the series premiere pushed back while she recovered.

She has been unable to take on her daytime hosting duties ever since then, and has also suffered other medical complications in that time.

Addressing concerned fans on Instagram, she insisted that she is ‘making progress’.

‘HOW YOU DOIN’? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic. I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected,’ she said.

‘I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready.

‘I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there.’
