The Chase viewers open-mouthed as Anne Hegerty gives teacher BRUTAL dressing down

THE Chase viewers were left open-mouthed after Anne Hegerty gave a teacher a BRUTAL dressing down.

On Monday’s edition of the ITV quiz show, a chemistry teacher called Emily was part of the team trying to beat The Chaser.

Anne Hegerty shocked viewers of The Chase with a brutal jibe at a contestant

Chemistry teacher Emily had got a science-based question wrong in her cash builder but did well in the head to head

During her Cash Builder, Emily was mortified when she got a chemistry-based question wrong.

She was asked: “What colourless gas is naturally produced from animals in exhaled air?”

Emily said Methane but host Bradley Walsh told her it was Carbon Dioxide.

When the questions were over, she told Bradley: “I got a chemistry one wrong… no way I’ll never live that down.”

However, Emily faired better in her head to head against Anne, 63, and managed to make it back to her seat for the Final Chase and add £2,000 to the prize pot.

Bradley told her: “See, you’ve made up for the chemistry question now!”

As Emily thanked him, he said: “You’re welcome. Three out of three that’s good, excellent stuff. Chaser?”

Anne then shocked viewers with a savage dig, saying: “Yeah… she’s an extra step in the Final Chase certainly.

“I don’t know how much use she’s going g to be otherwise, but hey – she’s through.”

As Bradley told Emily to take no notice of her, viewers took to Twitter to comment on the jibe.

BRUTAL

One wrote: “Brutal from Anne. Still smarting from the diss fluke answer. #thechase.”

Another added: “Ooooo Anne with the shade #thechase.”

A third tweeted: “Damn, Anne threw a whole forest of shade just then. #TheChase.”

Sadly, Emily didn’t get the last laugh, as Anne managed to catch the team in the Final Chase with seconds to spare, sending them home empty-handed.

As she returned to her seat, Anne said she didn’t know how much use Emily would be in the final chase

The Chase airs weeknights at 5pm on ITV.
