Video: When Leon Edwards Scored an 8-Second Knockout and Stopped the Fight Himself

Leon Edwards is, by far, one of the best welterweights to ever grace the octagon. The 1.83m English UFC fighter currently boasts an impressive record of 19 wins and 3 losses, excluding a no-contest match. In addition to being the #3 welterweight, he is also on a 9 win streak.

With several fights in his highlight reels, his fight against Seth Baczynski seems to top it all. The fight took place at UFC Fight Night 64 in 2015. Leon Edwards fought Baczynski in the 8th fight of the day. Coincidentally, the fight also lasted a duration of just 8 seconds.

Leon Edwards’ insane 8 second KO

Leon was coming to fight after tasting defeat at the hands of Claudio Silva at the UFC Fight Night 56. ‘Rocky’ showed he meant business after knocking his next opponent in merely 8 seconds.

Before the commentators finished announcing their name, the match was over. People also commemorated him for stopping his punches after The Polish Pistola” went down. He celebrated this insane KO with a celebratory dance. He was later rewarded with a $50,000 performance of the Night bonus.

This fight is the fourth amongst the fastest finishes in UFC history. Jorge Masvidal’s flying knee against Ben Askren at UFC 239 remains the fastest finish in the promotion’s history, ending in just 5 seconds.

Who should Leon fight next?

Leon has not lost since his Usman fight back in December 2015. His fight against Jorge Masvidal at the UFC 269 got canceled because of an undisclosed injury. After their backstage brawl in 2019, this grudge bout was much awaited. Now with ‘The Gamebred’ out, people are speculating whether he should wait for welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. He is currently spending quality time with his family following his victory over Colby Covington in November.

Or take on one of the rising stars, Khamzat Chimaev. He is currently on a spectacular 10 win streak. UFC originally stated them to fight each other at the UFC Fight Night 183 on December 19, 2020. But the Chechnyan-born Swedish fighter contracted COVID, soon followed by Leon. This lead to the fight being canceled.
