WATCH: Kyle Larson Given a Heroic Homecoming Parade by His Hometown Including NBA Team Kings

After winning the NASCAR Cup Series title in a record-breaking 2021 season, Kyle Larson firmly established his ‘zero to hero’ narrative. And deservedly, the Hendrick driver was given a hero like welcome and treatment in his hometown.

Larson received a victory parade in Elk Grove, where he was born and brought up. He was joined by his family, along with many Elk Grove residents, who welcomed their hero back home.

In fact, November 22 was officially announced as the ‘Kyle Larson Day’ in Elk Grove.

“Elk Grove is my home and will always be my home,” the NASCAR champion said.

Larson was also honoured by the NBA team, Sacramento Kings, in their game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Kyle Larson went from zero to hero within a year

In the middle of the 2020 season, Larson was fired from his long time team, Chip Ganassi Racing.

This was followed by an indefinite suspension from NASCAR and losing most of his main sponsors. For many months, the Elk Grove resident faced an uncertain future for his career.

But in October 2020, Larson was signed by Hendrick Motorsports for the 2021 season. He was shown faith and given a second chance by the very team which rejected him a decade earlier.

And he repaid their faith in some style.

Larson won 10 races in his championship-winning season. He broke and equalled records that stood for decades. The NASCAR legends whose records he surpassed or equalled include names like Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, among others.

During his victory parade in Elk Grove, a resident and fan described what many NASCAR legends and fans are expecting for Kyle Larson in the future.

“The kid’s a champion. This is his first cup but there’ll be more to come. I won’t be surprised if he goes on to win two or three more.”

Well, it’s fair to say that not just him, but nobody will be surprised to see him repeat his success of 2021 in the future.
