Frank Warren Provides a Massive Update Regarding Tyson Fury’s Next Defense

Tyson Fury looked to take on the WBC mandatory challenger, Dillian Whyte. Following his successful title defense against Deontay Wilder, the WBC ordered Fury to take on the WBC interim champion. However, legal issues between Whyte and the WBC have delayed the fight. Now, Frank Warren has cleared the air and has revealed what the future holds for Tyson Fury as he prepares to fight early next year.

Frank Warren spoke about what not having a mandatory challenger means for Tyson Fury, who said he would fight early next year come what may. Warren said, “Tyson Fury will be back in the ring by late February or early March. Due to the legal wranglings involving Dillian Whyte, Tyson does not have a mandatory call to answer and is free to proceed with a defence of his belt and it’s a fight I’d like to stage in the UK.”

Fury revealed to iFL TV that he would definitely be fighting early next year. “I’m definitely fighting end of February, early March. One million percent. There’s no ifs, buts or maybes about it. Or I will sack my full promotional outfit, and I’ll promote myself. Gypsy King Promotions. There you go.”

This puts pressure on his promoters Frank Warren and Bob Arum to find him a decent fight for early next year. After his win over Deontay Wilder, Fury cemented his reputation as one of the best heavyweights. However, for him to silence all the doubters, he will have to fight the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua rematch and unify the titles.

Is WWE the next move for Tyson Fury?

Former WWE champion Drew McIntyre has called for a ‘Battle of Britain’ against Tyson ‘The Gypsy King’ Fury yet again. After talks for the Dillian Whyte matchup stalled, will we get to see Fury make a return to WWE? Fury is no stranger to the WWE as he competed against Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel 2019.

The former champion, McIntyre, is eying a PPV wrestling event against ‘The Gypsy King’. “The way I put it, I’m angling for a significant UK pay-per-view,” McIntyre said to Mirror Fighting. “I won’t shut up about it until it happens and Fury and I have been going back-and-forth for a long time. If we needed something a little outside the box to get people’s attention, especially in the UK, someone of his stature in boxing and my stature in WWE that would draw some eyes.”

Would you like to see Fury get back into WWE? Or should he just look to defend his WBC belt?
