We’re all familiar with Will Smith’s iconic Fresh Prince rap, however, fans may be a little freaked with the latest version, as the first teaser for the rebooted drama, Bel-Air has dropped.

The 53-year-old actor lends his voice to the 40 second promo, which has been described as a ‘dark’ and ‘gritty’ remake of the beloved 90s sitcom.

In the somber opening Will can be heard saying: ‘This is a story… all about how my life got flipped… turned upside down.’

In the clip, Jabari Banks steps into Smith’s breakthrough role, wearing the star’s signature baseball cap sideways and swimming towards a throne, which he later sits on.

The classic comedy told the story of a teenager who moved to Bel-Air with his aunt and uncle, however this sinister tale will explore Smith’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to rich living in California.

The King Richard star is heavily involved in the series and has worked alongside film director Morgan Cooper, who created the trailer last year.

Producers said it is set in the modern-day and described it as a serialised one-hour ‘dramatic analogue’ to the half-hour sitcom of the original.

Peacock gave the show a two-season order back in September last year, and the streaming company recently uploaded the moment Smith surprised Banks, and told him his audition was successful.

‘It is an absolute pleasure to meet you, to be on with you, and from the deepest parts of my heart I want to say congratulations to you.

‘You have the role of Will on Bel-Air,’ Smith said to Banks.

It has also been reported that Andy and Susan Borowitz will serve as executive producers, with Smith and original executive producers Quincy Jones and Benny Medina.

Smith starred alongside James Avery, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana M. Ali, Joseph Marcell and Janet Hubert-Whitten/Daphne Maxwell Reid in the sitcom, which ran for six seasons from 1990 to 1996.
