It’s official! Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson are the latest stars confirmed to be entering Gwrych Castle on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here 2021.
Ahead of the launch of this year’s series, there were rumours that the soap stars would be joining the cast of the ITV show in Wales.
Just a few days since famous faces including David Ginola, Naughty Boy, Frankie Bridge and Dame Arlene Phillips have settled – or struggled to settle – in their new surroundings, a couple more contestants are set to be thrown into the mix.
At the end of tonight’s episode, it was finally revealed that EastEnders actor Adam and Coronation Street star Simon are joining the line-up.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press ahead of his entrance, Adam admitted that he felt nervous about being a latecomer.
‘You don’t want to kind of come in halfway through when everyone’s had to endure whatever they’ve had to endure, but I’m kind of thinking it might be something quite nice for somebody to come in later on. It’s a new face isn’t it, and somebody who probably smells a little bit better for the first few hours,’ he said.
Simon revealed he’s dreading the idea of being buried underground (Picture: ITV)
Simon said that while he intended on prepping for his time in the castle, such as by adjusting his sleeping pattern and reducing his food intake, he ended up foregoing those plans, adding that he already knows Danny Miller and remembers Richard Madeley being a ‘lovely guy’ when he met him in the ‘early days’.
As for which trial he was least looking forward to, the actor remarked that he doesn’t think ‘anybody on the planet’ would want to be ‘buried underground’.
‘I remember watching it once when they put somebody underground, I’m like “oh my god, no thanks”… I mean, who wants to be buried alive? But I’m sure that’ll come up again, cause I should imagine that’s the worst one to do, so I’m sure that’ll come up somewhere. So fingers crossed it’s not me!’ he stated. Might’ve jinxed yourself there Simon!
The Corrie star expressed how much he was going to miss his wife Emma Gleave and their kids, explaining that they’ve wanted him to do the show for years when he’s been asked in the past.
While he emphasised that he feels most nervous about ‘being nervous’, Simon added that he’s up for doing an ‘outdoorsy’ challenge, as he feels like I’m A Celebrity couldn’t be a ‘safer environment’.
Adam opened up about how ‘great’ an opportunity starring on the show is (Picture: ITV)
Adam, on the other hand, admitted that he was going to miss coffee, ice cream and his mountain bike while speaking to Metro.co.uk and other media.
He shared his prediction that Danny is ‘going to keep me entertained’, as the former Emmerdale actor is a ‘laugh’.
Despite everything that he’s going to miss from the outside world, the actor remarked that he was looking forward to not ‘looking at the phone every 10 minutes’.
‘You don’t get these kinds of opportunities. I mean, if you add up how many people have been in a castle and the jungle, [it’s] just over 200 I think or something,’ Adam said of the I’m A Celebrity experience.

‘Personally I think it’s a great opportunity and I can’t wait to get in there,’ he added.
While Adam admitted he’s never been asked to take part on the show before as far as he’s aware, he made it clear he’s up for the challenges the castle is going to throw his way.
I’m A Celebrity continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
