What is vanish mode on Instagram?
INSTAGRAM is often releasing new updates and adding new features to its app.
When chatting with someone it might be useful to have the Instagram chat vanish into the abyss.
Instagram’s vanish mode allows users to have a chat disappear after the conversation ends
What is vanish mode on Instagram?
Vanish mode on Instagram allows users to have a temporary chat where messages vanish after the conversation is over.
The chat is automatically erased when the users leave the conversation in the app.
Either party in the conversation can enable vanish mode and turn the feature off.
The feature is similar to Snapchat in the sense that sometimes users do not want a message to live forever.

Unless you manually turn the vanish feature on your messages will be permanent within the app, unless you manually delete the entire conversation.
How do I turn vanish mode on and off?
The option to switch between vanish mode and regular Instagram chats is not in plain sight.
Users must swipe up a few times from the bottom of their chats in order to enable vanish mode.
Once enabled the chat screen will turn from the color white to black and whispering emojis will flutter on the screen.
To turn off vanish mode the instructions are clearly stated at the bottom of the chat.
The vanish mode feature made its debut to Instagram in late 2020
“Swipe up to turn off vanish mode,” Instagram instructs.
The feature is not a new one as it made its debut to users on the app in late 2020.
A few things to note about vanish mode before entering the world of disppearing acts:
If a user takes a screenshot of the chat when in vanish mode the other user will be notified. The feature only works in one-on-one messages, so the juicy gossip in group messages will have to remain permanent for now.
Since vanish mode has only been around since late 2020, Instagram can be considered late in the game to disappearing chat features.
Other apps with similar features include Snapchat, and Messenger.
Vanish mode in Instagram will still allow users to exchange regular messages including GIFs, images, and emojis in the chat.
The main difference is they will forever be gone once users return to regular messaging.
