Did Jake Paul Really Earn More Money Against Woodley Than Tyson Fury Did Against Wilder?

The Fury trio and Jake Paul recently clashed at a semi-virtual press conference. To say the least, the heavyweight world champion, Tyson Fury, his father, and his brother made the whole event extremely entertaining. This could possibly be one of the only times when Jake Paul has been overpowered in terms of press conference trash talk and banter. A 10-8 round for the Furys for sure.

Instead of going at it with his opponent, Tommy Fury, the 24-year-old native thought it would be wise to dig into ‘The Gypsy King’. At one point, Jake Paul even claimed that he has made more money in the sport this year than the heavyweight world champion.

I’ve made more money in boxing than you this year and you’re the heavyweight world champion,” said Jake Paul.

As soon as he said that, all three of the Furys just glanced at each other and Fury clearly did not want to discuss numbers with the Youtuber-turned-boxer. So, he just said, “I doubt that very much“.

Let’s go head-to-head then. How much did you make this year in boxing?” Paul seemed interested in continuing this debate but Fury simply chose to not respond.

Jake Paul vs Tyson Fury: Who earned more in 2021?

For Paul to say that he bagged more cash than Tyson Fury this year is a bold claim. He clearly wanted to get to the bottom of this debate with the world champion; but, n0body really landed on a solid conclusion.

So, here’s a closer look and comparison between what both Paul and Tyson Fury earned this year alone.

How much did Jake Paul earn from 2 fights this year?

‘The Problem Child’ has already fought twice this year. While his first fight ended with an iconic knockout of Ben Askren, his subsequent bout against Tyron Woodley closed with a controversial split draw win.

For a professional boxer with just 4 fights and wins on his record, Jake Paul has earned huge numbers.

In his first outing this year, Jake Paul reportedly made around $690,000 for the fight and Ben Askren earned nearly $500,000. However, these are just base salaries and PPV share information is not available.

However, his pay in the Woodley fight shot up from his last; both Paul and Woodley reportedly bagged $2 million from the split decision bout. Again, even this is just a base fight purse. PPV shares could show higher net earnings.

So, Paul roughly made close to $3 million (base purse) from two fights in 2021.

How much did Fury earn from just one fight in 2021?

On the other hand, Tyson Fury has fought just once this entire year. The Deontay Wilder trilogy bout was huge and became a PPV bestseller. The WBC heavyweight world champion defended his belt by knocking out ‘The Bronze Bomber’ in round 11.

Regardless of the final KO, this fight was simply legendary and will definitely go down as one of the greatest of all time.

But Jake Paul would definitely not be happy to know how much Fury made from one fight alone this year. ‘The Gypsy King’ bagged a $5 million base salary along with a 60% PPV share. All included, Fury made close to $30 million from just that one fight.

Deontay Wilder earned a $5 million base salary along with a 40% PPV share, which summed up his net earning from the October 9 trilogy fight to close to $20 million.
