Mr Motivator has announced his granddaughter Hadassah has died at the age of 12 after a five day battle with meningitis.
The health and wellbeing coach – real name Derrick Evans – said she died at home in Antigua in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Evans said (via PA): ‘It’s not meant to happen like this. The circle of life dictates that parents and grandparents go first.
‘You are not supposed to bury your child or your grandchild. We have to fight on no matter what.’
The 69-year-old continued: ‘I want to remind everyone to tell your loved ones every day how much you love them.’
Evans and his granddaughter were thought to have had a very close relationship.
PA reports that Evans’ wife Sandra has flown to Antigua to be with family while Evans will join as soon as possible.
Evans found fame in the 1990s with many appearances on the breakfast show GMTV, where he performed live fitness sessions and offered advice to viewers.
He went on to release a number of fitness videos and formed a production company with his son.
Most recently, Evans has continued with his fitness videos on YouTube, keeping people fit and active throughout the coronavirus pandemic, when gyms were shut.
He also worked to deliver a series of online exercise classes for staff and residents in over 70 care homes throughout Essex.
More to come.
