It’s Thanksgiving season, so there’s bound to be a lot of love and nostalgia in the air. While there isn’t a lot of must-watch TV, it is never a bad idea to look back and reminisce about the past. When you say Thanksgiving and NFL in the same sentence, one name that instantly comes to everyone’s mouth is that of Randy Moss. After all, who can miss the New England Patriots legend’s incredulous introduction to the NFL world on this day, 22 years ago?
November 26th, 1998 – The day Randy Moss introduced himself to the world and started his journey of being a legend
On November 26th, 1998, a rookie wide receiver named Randy Moss made history for the Minnesota Vikings. Against the Cowboys, Moss had three receptions for 163 yards and scored three touchdowns [his first three-touchdown performance in the NFL].
His pace and movement was too hot to handle for the Cowboys defence that he made the Cowboys’ defence of 1998 look like the Cowboys’ defence of 2020. Ever since his record-breaking introduction to the NFL, the WR got the moniker of being the Thanksgiving Day Legend!

“Just trying to be a legend”–Justin Jefferson wears a drip inspired by an NFL legend
Jefferson now has 100-yard receiving games in 11 of his career games, tying Moss and JuJu Smith-Schuster for the most in a player’s first two seasons in the Super Bowl era (only Odell Beckham Jr. has 15). Jefferson also tied for the fourth-fewest games since the 1970 NFL merger to reach 150 career receptions in his 26th game. When quipped about his records and Randy Moss’ inspiration, the wide receiver simply replied–“Just trying to be a legend”
“That’s the same type of mindset that I have, just trying to be a legend,” Jefferson said Sunday, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN. “Trying to make big plays. Why not carry after him? He’s one of the best in the game. I just love playing the game, love the rivalry, and love these intense big games.”
