Pato O’Ward (Indycar) vs Lando Norris (F1) Salary Comparison: Which McLaren Driver is Paid More?

McLaren has two rising stars in their ranks, Lando Norris and Pato O’ward. Lando Norris has made his name at the pinnacle of motorsport and has expressed a willingness to become the future world champion, whereas the Mexican driver Pato O’ward has taken the IndyCar series by storm.

Both young guns are under the leadership of McLaren CEO Zak Brown. But there is a massive difference in their salaries and how much they earn. O’Ward earns around $2 million in a year, Norris earns almost 5 times as much as the IndyCar star.

Norris made his debut in F1 at the start of the 2019 season and slowly made a name for himself. When he signed his new contract with the Woking-based team, Norris has positioned himself as one of the best drivers on the grid.

As reported by Express.co.uk, the young Brit earns around $9 million, which includes added bonuses. This figure makes the McLaren driver one of the best-paid drivers in the sport.

It would be cool to see Pato anyway in a Formula 1 car: Lando Norris

As reported by Formula1.com, Pato O’Ward will drive the 2021 McLaren at the Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test. Brown had promised the young Mexican a drive in the F1 car if he won a race in IndyCar.

Norris also commented on the opportunity to see Pato drive the McLaren in Abu Dhabi. “Obviously it would be cool to see Pato anyway in a Formula 1 car, and I wish them and the American side [of McLaren] all the best in trying to win some races and so on,” said Norris.

“It would be cool to see someone jump from an IndyCar to Formula 1 and see the differences. I’m sure some things are maybe easier and some things are a lot more difficult and very different, so it would be cool,” said the Mclaren driver.

We would love to see Norris and O’Ward compete in the same category and go toe-toe against each other. Hopefully, the Mexican driver could make the leap to F1 after his test in Abu Dhabi.
