Paying 10 Times as Much as Lewis Hamilton to the FIA Infuriates Max Verstappen

The Brazilian Grand Prix will surely go down as a pivotal moment n the championship fight. Not only did we witness an amazing drive from Lewis Hamilton, who won the race from the back. We also saw some of the most controversial moments of the season. The stewards penalized Max Verstappen for touching the rear wing of Hamilton’s car.

Hamilton was disqualified from qualifying for having an illegal rear wing. While the stewards fined Verstappen 50k euros for touching a car in park ferme. The Dutch driver mocked the decision as he thought the fine was too harsh.

As reported by Soy Motor, the Red Bull has continued mocking the decision and called out the stewards for his severe penalty. Verstappen jokingly stated that he won’t touch the rear wing anymore as it is too expensive.

” I am not authorized to touch a rear wing anymore, that’s for sure. If you do, you have to pay a good fine. But apparently, it is cheaper to drive without the seat belts. So I will think about it,” said the Verstappen.

He was mocking the decision of the stewards to penalize Hamilton for loosening the seat belt for his victory lap. Hamilton was just fined 5,000 euros for his offense.

Max further stated that the FIA should review the penalties for changing engines. You get a 10-second penalty for taking a new engine and from then on you get a 5- second penalty for taking a new engine.

This has meant that Hamilton has taken two new engines since the Russian Grand Prix. “The first time it’s 10 places back and after that, it’s five, and I find that a bit illogical.

If you keep taking engine penalties, I think it should just stay the same [number of grid places] because you’re going over the same limit all the time.” said Max.

It is hard to disagree with the championship leader. As he feels he is at a disadvantage against two fresh engines that his rival Hamilton has with just two races to go.
