Samantha Jones went from being the femme fatale of New York City to a high-flying PR executive in Los Angeles – and now, she’s taking on the UK.
Kim Cattrall’s character’s absence in the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That… will reportedly be explained by her move to London.
Samantha is set to have had a falling out with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), mirroring the real life feud between the actresses, and show sources claim that she was moved to London so that any awkward issues about Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) not interacting with her could be avoided.
Sources told the Daily Mail: ‘We couldn’t have Samantha roaming around New York City and not have the other women not interacting with her. It just wouldn’t have made sense.
‘Sending her to Los Angeles wasn’t an option as we’d done that in the first movie, so having her character based in London really was the perfect way to keep her alive and explain her absence.
‘Viewers will learn that she is thriving in England even though she has fallen out with Carrie.’

They added that Carrie will extend an olive branch to her former bestie at some point in the season.
Fans initially anticipated Samantha being killed off in And Just Like That…, after it was confirmed that Kim, 65, had chosen not to return to the show.
However, the door is reportedly being left open for the actress to join the second season of the reboot.
Aside from Samantha, most of the original characters from the HBO show are back for the limited series, including Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, their husbands Mr Big (Steve Noth), Steve (David Eigenberg) and Harry (Evan Handler), friends Stanford (the late Willie Garson) and Anthony (Mario Cantone), and even Big’s ex-wife Natasha (Bridget Moynahan).
