“Absolutely Crucial”: Producer Highlights the Approval Required by Serena Williams and Family for King Richard

American tennis star Serena Williams has been fulfilling a lot of off-the-court commitments as of late. Ever since the release of the movie King Richard, the entire Williams family has been thrilled with the response.

Recently, the producer of the movie Trevor White spoke about the manner in which he had to get Serena Williams and her family on board. Everyone associated with the movie was all on the same page with regards to getting approval for the movie.

The producer of the movie spoke on this topic and stated, “It was absolutely crucial we had their support. No one involved was excited about the idea of moving forward on this without their involvement. We also knew the script was going to get a lot better and fill in a lot of the blanks. Having each of their consulting really elevated it. All the nuances made it special.”

Serena Williams was very cooperative during the entire process

White felt that along with the approval from the family about going ahead with the movie, they would get to know about many unheard stories based on their (Williams family) lives. At the end of the day, the help received by Serena and her family was useful as they could use the inputs in the making of the movie.

Coming to tennis, Serena began the season by reaching the semifinal at the Australian Open. After that, she underperformed during the clay season and the French Open. Sadly, she had to retire midway from her opening round match at the Wimbledon Championships after twisting her ankle. She then skipped the US Open due to a hamstring injury.

She is looking forward to competing in the next season. All eyes will be on Serena when she steps on the tennis courts in the quest for her 24th Grand Slam title. We wish her the best of luck.
