Canada’s Drag Race season 2 star Kimora Amour has admitted she feels ‘disappointed’ by some of the responses she received from fans ahead of her elimination, opening up about how ‘lucky’ she feels to have been a part of important conversations on the show.

On the latest episode of the talent competition, the queens were set the daunting task of performing a roast of judge Brooke Lynn Hytes, before turning up on the runway in their best Dungeons and Drag Queens looks.

After landing in the bottom two with Gia Metric, Kimoraw as told “sashay away” after their lip sync performance to Get Down by B4-4.

While speaking to Metro.co.uk, Kimora admitted that at the point of her elimination, she was ‘tired’ and felt ‘kind of finished’, so she knew that she ‘wasn’t paying attention to the detail at the level I knew I was at’.

Nonetheless, she said that she ‘loved’ her experience on the show, describing it as ‘different, difficult, but at the same time, a lot of fun’.

Despite receiving some glowing remarks from fans watching her progress over the past seven weeks, when asked what she thought of the way in which she was perceived by viewers, Kimora said she was ‘a little disappointed’.

‘I hoped to have been a little bit more well received, I think everyone hopes to be a little more well received in some aspects, but I understand the world we live in, and that’s ok,’ she added.

The performer explained that ahead of the competition, she thought that she would be the ‘b***h’ of the cast – which is why it came as a surprise to her how well the cast members got along.

‘I’m a lot friendlier than I thought I was,’ she stated in reflection. ‘I really thought I would go in there being the b***h in some aspects, because I am very particular and I’m not always a queen queen.

‘I don’t always get along with other queens because I don’t always agree with certain things, and I was pleasantly surprised that the girls and I, we all generally clicked.’

Kimora undoubtedly left her mark on the competition, particularly with her Ugly As Sin runway, when represented the horrors of slavery as she appeared on the stage dressed like an enslaved woman, breaking her shackles as she walked down the runway and leaving the judges speechless.

The queen said that in particular runway was the ‘most emotional’ she had ‘ever been on the show or in general in a while’, stating: ‘That was physically the most emotional I have been in a long time. I don’t cry, and I literally burst into tears when I left the runway, I couldn’t hold it in. I had to take myself and put every bit of emotion I had into that moment.’

Having received a shoutout from SNL star Leslie Jones and exchanged messages with Drag Race UK stars Choriza May and Vanity Milan – the latter of whom Kimora sends a message every week telling her that she ‘loves’ her – Kimora feels ‘lucky’ to have been a part of a show that raises awareness of important topics of conversation.

‘I feel so lucky to have been a part of that and to bring conversations forward and to bring topics forward and to bring a little education forward,’ she said. ‘To me, that is the reason why I was on the show.’

Canada’s Drag Race is available to watch on WOW Presents Plus.
