Christina Applegate opens up on ‘hard’ birthday as she turns 50 amid MS battle

Christina Applegate has given fans a glimpse into the reality of having multiple sclerosis, as she opened up on struggling amid her birthday.
The Dead to Me actress has been open about her MS, which is a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance.
Christina, who has just celebrated her 50th birthday, wrote: ‘Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS.
‘It’s been a hard one. Sending so much love to all of you this day. Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try.’
Christina has been supported by friends and fans alike after revealing her diagnosis.
Taking to Twitter, she told fans: ‘Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition.
‘It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a*****e blocks it.
‘As one of my friends that has MS said “ we wake up and take the indicated action”. And that’s what I do.

Christina’s fellow actress Selma Blair has been open about her own battle with the condition, having been diagnosed three years ago.
