Pictures of the devastation caused to the set of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here have been revealed as it was announced the weekend shows would be cancelled.

ITV bosses announced on Saturday that there would be no new episodes of the show over the weekend due to the effects of Storm Arwen battering Wales.

They said in a statement: ‘Owing to technical difficulties caused by extreme weather conditions in the area, there will be no new episodes of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will be replaced tonight and tomorrow night in the ITV schedules by compilation shows (voiced by Ant & Dec) featuring best moments from previous series.’

The technical difficulties appear to have been caused by extensive damage to the production base for I’m A Celebrity, which was caused by the extreme weather.

Production tents were seen with the awnings torn off as well as scaffolding poles knocked down due to the high winds, meaning operations were no longer able to take place in the cabins beneath.

While the temporary buildings were damaged by the storm, all of the celebrities taking part I’m the series are said to be safe within Gwyrch Castle.

The latest issues come after Friday’s episode of the show was the first to have to be pre-recorded due to the weather conditions.

I’m A Celebrity has had a rocky start with campmate Richard Madeley, 65, being forced to leave after falling ill and requiring tests in hospital, meaning he broke the Covid bubble the cast had been in.

There were also concerns of stars quitting the show, with both Naughty Boy and Arlene Phillips threatening to walk out after finding it difficult in camp.

Ant and Dec had warned of potential disruption due to the storm, sharing a video on Instagram on Friday night with Declan Donnelly telling fans: ‘You’ve probably heard we’re having to record the show a bit earlier tonight because of the winds here at Storm Arwen.’

With the storm roaring in the background, Ant McPartlin added: ‘It’s bad, isn’t it, it’s really windy. You can hear it, it’s rattling the tent, it might blow this away, so we’ve got to get it done and get out of here.’

Dec told fans: ’It’s due to get worse later so everyone is afraid that the satellite is going to go down and all of that, so it’s a bit risky to do a live show, so we’re going to have to do it recorded tonight, which is the first time we’ve ever done that.’
