‘LeBron James Will Be Checking in on a Fight’- Metallica’s Robert Trujillo on the UFC’s Extensive Impact

Metallica’s bassist Robert Trujillo sat down with Mike Bohn from MMA Junkie and talked about the band’s upcoming performance. Metallica will be performing on Saturday’s Triller Triad Combat event that pits MMA fighters against boxers. Stars like Frank Mir, Kubrat Pulev, and ‘Rampage’ Jackson have associated themselves with the project in varying capacities.

Apart from talking shop, Trujillo also went in on his general love for combat sports and the UFC in particular. He even went so far as to name his favorite fighter to watch and commented on the evolution of the UFC. According to Trujillo, the UFC has evolved so much that professional athletes from other sports look up to fighters and the work they put in.

“I can’t believe what it’s [UFC] has evolved into because it’s just grown into one of the most popular sports on the planet right now. And it’s for everybody. How often when you watch a fight like this, you’re seeing people from all walks of life.”

“You’re seeing entertainers, musicians… you’re seeing actors, you’re seeing professional actors all across the board. LeBron James will be checking in on a fight.”

“Basketball players, professional football players, everyone that appreciates great- for the athletic ability. Again, these are all athletes. These guys are at the top of their game…it’s a very exciting time.”

How far can the UFC go?

The manner in which the UFC held its own when the pandemic hit in 2020 gave fans a larger perspective of the growth prospect of the company. The UFC managed to stay afloat and eventually thrive in a time when other major leagues shut down.

Chiefly, Dana White’s bullish tactics lent themselves to making everyone believe that the UFC can push through any adversity. As it stands, the organization remains the largest MMA promotion in the world and is largely unrivaled in that capacity.

Not to mention, the company continues to churn out some sensational events that keep elevating the brand. Fans of the fact can easily project that the UFC has nowhere to go from here but up.
