Diego Schwartzman Reveals His Wish For Roger Federer

The world saw Roger Federer last, all the way back in Wimbledon in July 2021. The Swiss maestro has had his knee operated on twice now- no doubt a toll that years of playing phenomenal tennis took on him. However, he still continues to be a part of tennis conversations almost every day.

It is either speculation surrounding his return, his health, or just the next-gen stars talking about the FedExpress as their inspiration. But in some way or another, Roger Federer remains a very active part of the tennis fraternity.

World No. 13 Diego Schwartzman talked about ‘His Majesty’ today. He revealed that he has always been a fan of Roger Federer. Furthermore, he expressed a particular desire regarding seeing Federer on the court.

Diego Schwartzman wants to see Roger Federer continue playing

In an interview with the ESPN Playroom, Schwartzmann spoke about Roger Federer. Acknowledging the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s age, Schwartzman stated how that leaves a lot less room for recovery.

He further went on to appreciate Federer’s mindset. For Schwartzman, Federer continues to want to beat everyone. Consequently, he still plays as hard as possible, which ultimately, and sadly, leads to injuries for the living legend.

Schwartzmann is one of Roger Federer’s millions of fans

Schwartzman opened up about being a fan of the tennis great. He also acknowledged how he is one of the millions of fans that Roger Federer has. Additionally, the 29-year-old revealed an honest admission about wanting to see Federer continue playing.

Talking about how Federer at his age takes a lot longer to recover from matches, Schwartzman expressed how it is definitely sad to see your hero get weaker over time. However, if it is because of tennis and playing matches, Schwartzman sheepishly admits that he won’t mind seeing Federer play, even if it is just once a year.

Clearly, the effect that Roger Federer has had on the subsequent generations is huge and crucial to where the sport is today. Despite his injuries, the world, and even his own opponents in tennis, house the desire to see him play again.

“I hope that he keeps coming back once a year,” the Argentinian admitted.
