Victoria Beckham, Khloe Kardashian lead tributes as Virgil Abloh dies after cancer battle

Tributes have come pouring in for Louis Vuitton’s artistic director Virgil Abloh, following the news that the American designer has died aged 41.

In a statement released from LVMH, it was confirmed that the fashion designer died after a battle with cancer.

Stars including Victoria Beckham, Khloe Kardashian, Hailey Bieber, Drake and Marc Jacobs have honoured his memory, with Beckham sending ‘love and light to the family.’

‘A true inspiration in so many ways. Rest in peace @virgilabloh. Sending love and light to your beautiful family 🙏🏼 ,’ the former Spice Girl shared on Instagram.

‘We will all miss you so very much x.’

Reality star Khloe Kardashian tweeted a row of doves and broken heart emojis in relation to the devasting news.

Candian rapper Drake wrote: ‘My plan is to touch the sky 1000 more times for you…. love you eternally brother. Thank you for everything.’

American model Hailey Bieber shared a heartfelt post on Instagram and wrote: ‘Virgil completely changed the way I looked at street style and fashion, the way he looked at things inspired me deeply.

‘I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am to have known him and worked with him, from walking on his runways to having him design my wedding dress and all the other amazing moments in between, I felt he was always rooting for me.

‘He was someone who always brought life, charisma, love and fun to any situation, and every room he walked into. A once in a generation creative mind that is so rare and I’ll never forget his impact. We love you Virgil..’

Fellow fashion legend, Marc Jacobs, tweeted: ‘I am so sorry to read

Singer Kelly Rowland said: ‘Rest In Peace Great One! Such a Visionary’

‘My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones. May you rest in Peace and Power dear Virgil.’

Actor Riz Ahmed, 38, hailed Virgil for pushing boundaries and inspiring others to ‘reimagine what’s possible.’

He wrote: ‘Rest in Power @virgilabloh … gone too soon but your legacy lives on. Stretched culture & changed the game. Thank you for all you did to support so many & how you pushed us to reimagine what’s possible. (sic)’

And Tennis ace Venus Williams, 41, wrote: Omg I can’t believe @virgilabloh is gone. Noooo.’

Abloh ‘valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac Angiosarcoma’. 

He was diagnosed in 2019, and, heroically, continued working in fashion while going through ‘numerous challenging treatments’.
