‘You’re a Hell of a Man’: Tiger Woods Once Left a Golfer Clueless With His Remark

Tiger Woods is probably the greatest golfer of all time. He became a global athlete soon after making his debut in 1996. Tiger was the face of this sport around the world. Hence, because of this popularity, the media was constantly behind him for interviews. 

Moreover, when Tiger won the 1997 Masters and became the youngest golfer to win at Augusta, he took the golfing world by storm. He was an iconic global athlete and became an inspiration for many around the world. In 1998, the organizers invited Tiger for the Johnnie Walker Classic in Phuket, Thailand. 

Also, he once left a fellow golfer clueless with a remark he made.

Tiger Woods makes an unusual remark to a golfer

Tiger Woods had a mediocre event as he was T18 and eight behind the lead after round three. And that’s when Kathie Shearer, who was running the media center for that week, requested Woods to front the media. Meanwhile, Tiger had already declined her offer twice to engage with the media.

However, Woods didn’t have to come into the media center unless he was in the top 3. Hence, Kathie getting Tiger to front media was not possible. But as she was standing outside the clubhouse entrance, she politely asked Tiger if he could come to the media center. However, Woods denied the request and went inside the locker room. 

Furthermore, Kathie followed him in and said, “Look, you really need to come in. You haven’t been in.” But still, Woods denied the offer as Tiger’s IMG minder interrupted. However, quickly, Shearer responded, “I am speaking to the butcher, not the block. You can f- 0ff, too.”

But watching this drama, Woods followed Shearer as they went to the media center. She made Tiger attend the media center that day. Furthermore, Tiger carded an incredible 65 and the event in the playoff. Meanwhile, Kathie left an incredible mark on the 15-time major winner. 

However, the most interesting tale begins now. Kathie’s husband Bob Shearer, a professional golfer, is one of the nicest persons in the world of golf. He met Tiger Woods while exiting the locker room in Royal Melbourne at the 1998 Presidents Cup. After a brief introduction, Tiger asked, “Are you related to Kathie Shearer?”

“I am married to her,” replied Bob. Hence, Tiger, who had seen her in Phuket, said, “You are a hell of a man.”
