‘Brought So Much Positivity to the World’: LeBron James and Anthony Davis Open Up on Virgil Abroh’s Demise

The NBA world was hit with another shocking news, as one of the greatest fashion icons passed away because of cancer. Virgil Abloh was the founder of the brand, Off-White. He had started his journey as a designer for one of the biggest brands in the world, Louis Vuitton, and had left his mark on the league in his own way. So, when LeBron James and Anthony Davis were confronted about the disheartening news in their post-game interview, they had much to say.

LeBron James offers his condolences and reminisces on what an idol he was

The Los Angeles Lakers just came off a vital 110-106 win against the Detroit Pistons. Although it was a moment of celebration for a team that has been struggling to grab wins consistency, players couldn’t help but mourn the loss of Virgil Abloh. So, in the Lakers’ post-game interview, Anthony Davis and LeBron James spoke very highly of him.

“First of all, our condolences go out to his families and friends,” said LeBron. “Second of all, I think for a black community to see somebody like that, for our younger generation and the kids that look up to guys like all of us.”

“To see the guy like Virgil to break the barrier. To be able to go from where he started, to be able to work for Louis Vuitton, and Nike, and all these unbelievable companies as a black man, it does so much for our youth.” However, he also complimented Virgil as an artist and emphasized his flair, style, and even his swag.

Anthony Davis, piggy-backed on what his teammate had to say. But most importantly, he wanted to remember Abloh for what he contributed to the world.

“What he’s done with his art, and do it throughout the world with his clothing. Like Bron said, you see it on everybody. You know, I wore a whole Louis Vuitton collection today. He brought so much positivity to the world, man. It just sucks.” he stated.

For someone of his talent to pass away at an early age of 41 because of Cancer definitely has us thinking. No matter how much we think that these public figures enjoy the Glitz and Glamor, they could be personally struggling from so much more. Abloh’s contribution to the NBA and otherwise will never be forgotten
