From Paddock Walks to Fashion Shows, Remembering Virgil Abloh Through Lewis Hamilton’s Style
As Formula 1 mourns the passing of Sir Frank Williams, the world of fashion said goodbye to Virgil Abloh. From designing for Louis Vuitton to starting his brand Off-White, Abloh was an icon of the industry. A man who has donned Off-White on paddock walks and was even a friend of the designer is none other than Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis’s love for fashion has been no secret. As a result, it was inevitable that he would cross paths with the creative genius of Abloh. Frequently spotted in LV and Off-White, Hamilton has been a fan of Abloh. Further, the feeling was always reciprocated.
Hamilton has almost always been a part of Abloh’s shows and supported his friend and his many endeavors. As two icons in their field and an overall aura of positivity, undoubtedly the two had a good friendship.

Not only did Lewis favor the designer’s clothes, but Abloh also followed Hamilton’s races as well; the two were brothers in fashion. However now, as Abloh’s long battle with cancer has come to an end, his innovation is going to be missed.

What could arguably be one of Hamilton’s most iconic looks was when the champion turned up in Abu Dhabi last season. Stepping on the circuit after his bout with Covid-19, Hamilton was ready for the final race before the title was his. With the designer’s sunglasses on, Hamilton added to a long list of Abloh’s wares.

More recently, Hamilton’s all-white Off-White look from Zandvoort took the internet by storm. However, it didn’t stop there. Back in 2020, Hamilton featured on the front row for Abloh’s show at the Carreau du Temple.
Another popular Off-White look from Hamilton is from last season’s weekend at Spa. Hamilton donned his Off-White faux shearling jumper, looking as snug as ever.
Regardless of paddock walks and iconic fashion moments; designers come and go, but Virgil Abloh and his contributions to the fashion industry will remain unmatched.
