New York Mets Make ‘Historic’ Offer to Max Scherzer as Spending Spree Continues

The former LA Dodgers star pitcher, Max Scherzer has taken over the headlines with a huge deal coming his way. The 37-year-old has been one of the top free agents for the 2022 season, and many teams have been on the lookout for him.

However, it looks like New York Mets are ahead in the race of acquiring Max. The Mets have been aggressively signing players, leaving out fewer options for their slow-running rivals. And Max Scherzer is next on target.

New York Mets’ $40 million offer to Max Scherzer

According to Andy Martino, New York Mets have offered a whooping offer to Max. The offer on the table is reported to be more than $40 million, perhaps around $45 million. Notably, the offer is said to be a multi-year deal and so it could be around a $90 million deal for 2 years. Furthermore, there are also rumors about the contract could lead to a 3-4 year deal.

After joining Dodgers in 2021, Max pitched in 179 1/3 innings and had a 34.1% strikeout rate and a 5.2% walk rate much better than league average.

Notably, the 37-YO had already declared he doesn’t want to wait to make his decision and would conclude before the lockout. Do you think the New York Mets is Max’s next destination?
