“A pioneer for our generation. I think he just created a wave of young Black, young African Americans, & young guys of color, young women of color, to kind of bridge the gap. Especially with something as big as Nike and the fashion world.”

While Virgil Abloh was a designer, he did a lot for the NBA. Notably, he launched several collections with Louis Vuitton and Off White when it comes to the NBA. However, his most influential impact probably remains on the infamous Larry O’Brien trophy. Abloh created the Louis Vuitton case for the trophy, which is put to use even to this day.

Outside the trophy, his impact came with fashion and sneakers. His Off White collection with Jordan was loved by players all around the NBA. Many Jordan athletes even put them on during games. With fashion, he released a NBA line with Louis Vuitton and smashed that out of the park as well. Abloh truly was a genius in his own right and a big influence on the National Basketball League.
