“Please Fix It” – Lewis Hamilton Reveals His Demand to Mercedes Engineers for 2022 F1 Car

With new regulations coming in for the next season, the F1 teams are on their toes making a well-suited car for 2022. Lewis Hamilton recently revealed that he has not driven the new car in the simulator yet. However, he is constantly involved in the process of coming up with an ideal car for the next season.

While there are still two races to go in this season, it is enough workload for the Briton. He is giving vital inputs about the problems he faced this year in the car which should be fixed. Some drivers on the grid have already tested their cars in the simulator but Hamilton sees little benefit in doing that.

Lewis Hamilton wants the engine issues to be fixed in next year’s car

Hamilton has his attention on the intense championship fight with Red Bull this year. “I haven’t driven the car in the sim because I’ve literally just been focusing on this one,” said the seven-time world champion.

However, he is keen on helping with developing the 2022 car. Hamilton has faced some engine issues this year, and he wants them to be fixed in the potential W-13.

“But I’m in constant contact with the team. Even after our races, I’m always talking about, ‘this is where our car is right now, and these are the things I want on next year’s car, keep an eye out for these things.” said the Silver Arrows driver as reported by Autosport.

“These are the issues I have with the engine, I don’t want to see that next year, please fix it,” he added.

No point driving the car in a simulator

The simulators provide a virtual environment where the drivers can test their potential race cars. Simulation tools help develop an ideal race car taking all the practical aspects into consideration. Hamilton doesn’t see any point in testing the car yet because they are making rapid progress with the car.

”But right now, with the progress it’s making in the wind tunnel, there is no point driving the car because it’s on a steep learning curve,” said Hamilton as reported by Autosport.

Lewis is in constant touch with Peter Bonnington, his race engineer, and Andrew Shovlin regarding the updates on the W-13.

Presently, his primary focus would be on clinching his record-breaking 8th world title.
