A YouTuber who set up his own, real-life version of Squid Game has seen his video beat the show’s own record-breaking views after it was watched by over 100million people in four days.

Popular online personality Mr Beast, who boasts over 80million subscribers, set up his own game based on the smash-hit Netflix series that became the streaming site’s most popular show.

Along with his team, he painstakingly recreated the most iconic sets from the show’s deadly childhood games, including Red Light Green Light, the playground from the Honeycomb challenge, and the infamous Glass Bridge.

The American vlogger, real name Jimmy Donaldson, then invited hundreds of players to take part.

While the 456 contestants wouldn’t be murdered if they failed the challenges (understandably), they were in the running to win a cash prize of $456,000 (£343K).

Uploaded to Youtube just four days ago, Mr Beast’s Squid Game – which reportedly cost $1million to make – has been watched over 112m times.

The 25-minute clip smashed the records set by the original series, which had 111million viewers tuning in to watch in the 28 days following its release.

Donaldson took to Twitter after his show was seen by 42million people in the day following its release, and said: ‘I remember when I’d be excited if a video broke 10 views lmao.

‘I’m literally living the life 13 year old me would dream of every night and I’m super grateful.’

South Korean drama and worldwide phenomenon Squid Game follows desperate members of the public as they compete to win millions by taking part in children’s games in a strange tournament.

There is a cash prize of 45.6 billion won (£28m) at stake if the contestants manage to beat the competition and win.

The only downside is that if they lose, they die – in increasingly brutal circumstances.

Squid Game is available to watch on Netflix.
