R&B singer Ari Lennox has been arrested at Amsterdam Schiphol airport after a ‘disturbance’, with the star claiming she had been ‘racially profiled’.
The Pressure singer was taken into custody on Monday for disturbing public order, according to Dutch military police, with the star tweeting about the incident online.
Lennox had accused airline staff of racial discrimination, writing on Twitter: ‘I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me.’
That followed a tweet in which she had accused ‘Amsterdam security’ of ‘hating Black people’.
The 30-year-old – real name Courtney Shanade Salter – added: ‘I just want to go home. I’ll never leave my house again.’
According to Reuters, Dutch military police, who are responsible for security at Schiphol airport, said the singer – best known for her 2019 single Shea Butter Baby – was held ‘because of her aggressive behaviour towards an airline official, and for being drunk in public’.

Spokesman Robert van Kapel told the outlet: ‘Our unit found a woman full of emotions, that wouldn’t calm down. That’s why she had to be taken into custody.’
Earlier this month Lennox performed a stirring rendition of Pressure at the Soul Train Awards, with the song having cracked the top 10 on the R&B Radio chart in the US, as well top 10 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. The pre-taped ceremony also saw performances from the likes of Ashanti and Leon Bridges.
Lennox recently had to pull out of Houston’s Good Vibes Only Festival, which took place on October 30, due to her health, before she referenced Covid on her Twitter.

She wrote: ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances with my health, I won’t be able to perform at the Good Vibes Only Festival in Houston this weekend. It truly breaks my heart and I hope I can make it up to you all and the festival soon. Love y’all [heart emoji] please still turn up for me.’
Lennox went on to note the next day: ‘Covid plus anxiety is hell.’
