Strictly Come Dancing 2021: Dan Walker hits back at ‘fix’ and reveals vile messages over Tilly Ramsay exit

Dan Walker has reminded viewers, again, that Strictly Come Dancing is just a ‘TV show,’ after getting through to the quarter finals.

The BBC Breakfast presenter, 44, and professional partner, Nadiya Bychkova, are thrilled to have made it this far into the competition, however some fans aren’t too pleased after Tilly Ramsay was knocked out of the contest and Dan survived another week.

Dan’s latest performance was a Rumba to Desperado by The Eagles, which scored 31 points out of 40, and the routine caused a divide among the judges. Craig Revel Horwood described the number as ‘jolty’ while guest judge Cynthia Erivo shared a contrasting opinion and scored the pair a nine.

A number of frustrated fans took to Twitter and claimed the BBC show is ‘rigged.’ Following Sunday’s results show, the star tweeted: ‘Thank you to everyone who is sending lovely messages & enjoying us having fun on #Strictly.

‘And to the few who say… ‘Just leave’, ‘Aren’t you ashamed?’, ‘You’re a disgrace’, ‘It’s a fix’ (which I don’t get) or ‘Who is voting for them?”

‘IT’S A TV SHOW! See you in the 1/4 finals,’ he quipped.

Thank you to everyone who is sending lovely messages & enjoying us having fun on #Strictly and to the few who say…

“Just leave”
“Aren’t you ashamed?”
“You’re a disgrace”
“It’s a fix” (which I don’t get)
or
“Who is voting for them?”

This incident marks the second time the journalist has put the haters on blast. After Sara Davies’ elimination in week 8, he felt compelled to speak after viewers questioned why he was still in the competition.

‘Please don’t shout at me’ he penned followed by a laughing crying face emoji.

‘I’m having an amazing time, my kids are delighted & it’s only a TV show!’ he wrote. ‘For those asking, I don’t know who is voting for us (probably not Craig) but we’re incredibly thankful to everyone who is,’ he wrote.

Tilly was the ninth celebrity eliminated from the hit show, after landing in the dance-off with CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu.

Saturday’s show was filled with incredible routines, but it was John Whaite and Johannes Radebe who dominated the leaderboard with their Argentine Tango.

Strictly Come Dancing returns next Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
