The Masked Singer season 3: Start date, trailer, costumes and everything we know so far

There are more weird and wonderful costumes heading our way in the new series (Pictures: ITV)

One of the most bonkers, but brilliant shows to arrive over recent years is returning soon, with The Masked Singer back on our screens.

The ITV programme is set to arrive for its third season over the coming weeks – and fans can expect more guesswork, theatrics and larger than life performances when it returns.

Joel Dommett is back to host, with Jonathan Ross recently suggesting that the judging panel will remain the same as season two. Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan are expected to return after entertaining viewers during season two.

In an interview with The Mirror, judge Jonathan Ross said: ‘We’re doing a third series, and I’m doing the third series. And I shouldn’t speak about who the other judges are but you’re not going to be surprised.

‘I’m looking forward to doing it because it’s a fun way to spend the evening. On The Masked Singer I’m as much a viewer as a participant, for part of the evening.’

It was confirmed in May that Rita would be back for The Masked Singer series three after being replaced on The Masked Dancer due to filming commitments with The Voice Australia.

There’s not long to wait now – here’s everything you need to know.

Is there a trailer for the Masked Singer series 3 – and which costumes have been released so far?

You’d better believe it…

A couple of brand new clips were released over the weekend which featured a taste of what to expect from the new episodes.

The clip features stars dressed as a chandelier, a panda, a huge bug, a creature made out of donuts, a living set of bagpipes and even a strange take on a traffic cone.

There’s also a snow leopard, a robo-bunny, mushroom, penguin, lionfish and poodle taking to the stage this year.

Consider us terrified… (Picture: ITV)

Some of the confirmed costumes look pretty terrifying, but it’s not stopping us getting excited for the new episodes.

The costumes, which are made by Brighton-based Plunge Creations Ltd, look more weird and wonderful than ever.

It won’t be long until we see them in action on the Masked Singer stage.

When is The Masked Singer series 3 released?

An exact release date has yet to be confirmed, but fans can expect to see the show return in early 2022.

We know that The Masked Singer began recording its third season at ITV’s Bovingdon studios at Bovingdon Airfield in November, and the wheels are well and truly in motion ahead of the new episodes.

It comes after the second season aired at the start of the year, with the run wrapping in February.

The series was won by Joss Stone as Sausage, while Ne-Yo finished second as Badger and Aston Merrygold was in third as Robin.
