Did Sebastian Vettel Undergo a Hair Transplant?

A Thomas Pynchon character says in his book ‘Inherent Vice’, “Can’t say it often enough – change your hair, change your life.” One wonders if Sebastian Vettel had read this book during the time he left Ferrari to join the Aston Martin team, at the start of this season.

In the preseason, when drivers come into the teams to get a seat fitting, Vettel showed up with a radical new hairstyle. Or rather, the lack of it as he looked bald.

This led to some fans wondering whether Vettel was losing hair. But come April, his hair was back again, growing, just like his smile.

Again, fans speculated whether Vettel got a hair transplant, with one comment on Reddit saying, “So either Seb got a hair transplant or his hair is naturally regrowing since he left Ferrari.”

Yet there’s no truth in the transplant rumors. Because it takes somewhere between six to nine months for the hair to grow after surgery. But there could be some truth in Vettel losing hair in his last season at Ferrari.

Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari didn’t work

Sebastian Vettel had a tough ending to his Ferrari career. The four-time world champion who signed on from Red Bull in hopes to bring Ferrari’s long-lost glory. Something they hadn’t come close to since 2007.

It was a dream move, reminiscent of when Ferrari turned to another German in the past – Michael Schumacher. He was another German who came to Ferrari as the next big thing, with world titles, hoping to restore Ferrari’s prestige. And although it took him a few years to do so, but achieve it, he did.

With Vettel too, Ferrari must’ve felt that they might have to wait for a few years, for him to adjust to them, you know because they’re Ferrari. But it only kept getting worse.

For both the driver and the team, the marriage never worked. When Vettel left Ferrari in 2020, the team from Maranello recorded their worst finish in over four decades. So naturally, all the pressure and all the stress probably took a toll on Seb’s hair.

But now, his fans would be glad to see him smiling more often in his new team.

We all hope that Sebastian Vettel can restore his place at the top of the grid, where a driver of his talent really belongs.
