Hero World Challenge Venue: Albany Golf Club Location, Course Record, Yardage, and Other Major Details

The Thanksgiving weekend is finally over and now we can prepare ourselves for the last event of the season. An unofficial event on the PGA Tour, the Hero World Challenge will play out in Albany, the Bahamas, from the 2nd to the 5th of December.

The tournament offers no prize money and is a benefit event for the Tiger Woods Foundation. The charity aims to empower minorities, especially the underprivileged. It has many platforms under it, including the TGR Learning Labs, the Genesis Open, The National, Tiger Jam, and, of course, the Hero World Challenge.

Location and challenges of the Albany Golf Club, Bahamas

The course is an 18-hole championship course, an Ernie Els design. A links and desert course, it is packed with natural elements like dunes and water bodies. The scenic course is a treat to the eyes, and it compliments the top tier of golfers who tee it up every year.

The luxury property is set in New Providence and has strategically placed water hazards along its length and has a minimum elevation of 5m and a maximum of 10m. The average winning score over the last five years is a tad less than 20-under.

Meanwhile, the 72-hole record is in Jordan Spieth’s name from 2014 with a 262, while the Albany record is 263, set by Bubba Watson in 2015. The 18-hole record, on the other hand, is in Rickie Fowler’s name, a low 61 set during the fourth round in 2017.

The previous editions of the Hero World Challenge

The challenge has been played in the Albany Golf Club for the previous five versions. The 2020 edition was canceled, owing to the covid-19 pandemic, but it returned stronger than ever with an increased 20-player field. Moreover, Tiger Woods, the host of the event, will finally join the festivities after much speculation about his presence.
