Alex Beresford has responded to a follower telling him to ‘man up’ after he tested positive for Covid.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 41, shared with his followers on Monday that he had ‘been in bed since last week’ with the virus, despite being vaccinated.
One ‘unvaccinated and proud’ Twitter user replied sharing his own experience with Covid.
He wrote: ‘Man up! My 4th day in hospital after 8 days in bed with flu symptoms. 6 days not eating but drinking lots of water. Septic shock, low blood sugar and critically low oxygen, deaths door.
‘I’m out on Thursday. Unvaccinated and proud.’
Beresford took a gentle approach in his carefully crafted response, tweeting: ‘Michael I’m genuinely glad to hear you’re going to pull through and that our NHS kept you from dying.
‘Yes I’m vaccinated. It was my choice. You also made yours. Think yourself incredibly lucky you’re going to get to tell the tale. Rest up.’
There was an outpouring of support for the presenter, praising his ‘dignified answer’ and suggesting being unvaccinated is ‘nothing to be proud of.’
When announcing that he has covid online, Beresford said it ‘feels like a really bad flu.’

‘I’ve been actively wearing my mask and washing my hands these last few months because I was on projects I couldn’t fall out of, but I know I relaxed up these last 2 weeks and here I am,’ he shared.
He said he ‘wouldn’t like to imagine’ how much worse he would feel had he not been vaccinated.
Fans have flooded his Twitter mentions with ‘get well soon’ wishes, following the detection of the Omicron ‘super-variant’ in England and Scotland.
