Atlanta Braves Fan Chase Elliott Disapproves of Freddie Freeman’s Reported Move to Yankees

Even though Chase Elliott failed to defend his NASCAR Cup Series title, he had some reason to celebrate that weekend. Atlanta Braves, the team he arduously supports, had won the MLB World Series title. But in 2022, the baseball team will lose one of its key, and longest-serving players, Freddie Freeman.

And it seems, Elliott isn’t fond of the team he is being linked to next.

Freeman, who had played exclusively for Atlanta Braves since 2010, is now reported to sign for New York Yankees. This comes in line with the deal which Freeman is expecting, a massive $180 million for six years. And perhaps the Yankees are willing to meet this demand.

But the 2020 NASCAR champion doesn’t have a problem with him leaving or the price he’s asking from his next team. It’s simply the Yankees that Elliott disapproves of.

This he made clear in his tweet on behalf of the entire Atlanta Braves fanbase.

Lets definitely NOT do that first part please

Chase Elliott and Yankees in the past

In 2014, Elliott had tweeted something after a game between New York Yankees and Houston Astros played at the Minute Maid Park. Astros had won the game by 3-1 with the help of home runs from Dexter Fowler and Matt Dominguez.

Elliott had simply tweeted, “Yankees… Wow.”

Perhaps he was referring to the shocking nature of the result as Yankees were defeated on their home turf. This led to a fan asking Elliott whether he was a Yankees fan.

“Hah”, replied Elliott.

Hendrick Motorsports, the Yankees of NASCAR?

This season, Elliott’s team became the team with the most championship titles to their name in the Cup Series. The 2021 title was their 14th overall and during this season, Rick Hendrick’s team also became the team with the most race wins in NASCAR’s history.

This led to obvious comparisons between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Lakers. Because those two teams have won the most titles in MLB and NBA, respectively.

The comparisons are complementary in nature, but one needs to be wary of what Chase Elliott thinks about his team being compared to the Yankees. Although it remains to be seen how he would react to this.

Yet it’s not unrealistic to assume that he won’t have a happy response.
