Spotify Wrapped 2021 results are in… and Ed Sheeran’s not the most popular UK artist globally

Spotify Wrapped 2021 has been revealed – and there are some surprises in this year’s results.
Celebrating the artists, songs and podcasts that have got us through 2021 and the continuing coronavirus pandemic, Spotify Wrapped has discovered what we’ve been loving for the past 12 months.
While Ed Sheeran may have had a chart-topping comeback with Bad Habits and Shivers, he was pipped to the post for the most popular UK artist globally, with Dua Lipa taking the title instead.
Ed came in a close second, with Coldplay, One Direction and Queen completing the top five, measured by the data of 381million users worldwide.
The most-streamed artist globally for 2021 is Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, followed by US singer Taylor Swift, K-pop stars BTS in third, with Canadian musicians Drake and Justin Bieber completing the top five there.
The most-streamed songs globally proved we were all in our feelings for the past year, with Olivia Rodrigo’s Drivers License being the number one song with over 1.1billion streams, with the singer also getting the number four slot with Good 4 U.

Other tracks in the top five are Lil Nas X’s Montero (Call Me By Your Name), Stay by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber and Levitating by Dua Lipa and DaBaby.
Spotify users can also access their own Wrapped experience through the mobile app to find out what they have been listening to the most.
Fans will also get to see video messages from over 170 artists thanking them for having them on their Wrapped for the year for the first time.
