This Morning’s Clodagh McKenna reveals unbelievable PUB in her garden where she will spend Christmas

THIS Morning chef Clodagh McKenna opened the doors to her incredible garden pub and gave viewers a peek at where she’ll be celebrating Christmas.

The sustainable outbuilding is on the grounds of ITV’s Downton Abbey – or Highclere Castle as it’s officially known.

Clodagh lives in the 300-year-old Broadspear House within the grounds of the estate, which her husband Harry Herbert‘s family has owned since the 17th century.

Standing outside their pub, she said: “This is our cabin in the woods that we built in the summer. It’s completely sustainably built form all of the fallen trees in our property, and I’m a little bit nervous because I’ve never shown anyone inside except for family and some friends.

“It’s called The Cork Arms because this is where I’m from. We’ve decked it out for Christmas. I’ve literally spent the last two to three weeks doing it up for Christmas because all our family and friends are coming, fingers crossed.”

The beautifully decorated interior features a cosy nook with a roaring stove and twinkling Christmas tree.

A green Chesterfield sofa is located underneath shelves of books and family pictures.

The long bar counter was crafted from a fallen tree on the estate and took two years to work into suitable shape.

A green piano takes pride of place just inside the door which was gifted to Harry – who is the Queen’s godson – by his mum when he was six.

The kitchen area has a Belfast sink, a large dining table and cupboards made from a fallen gate.

Broadspear Cottage was gifted to Harry by his father Lord Porchester, the 7th Earl of Carnarvon.

The castle is part of a 5,000-acre estate in Hampshire.

Harry’s family has owned Highclere Castle since the late 17th century.

Clodagh told Ray Foley and Roz Purcell on The Six O’Clock Show: “We got married and live in the grounds of Highclere park, which of course, is known as the set of Downton Abbey.

“We don’t live in the castle, we have a lovely home called Broadspear.”

Since the happy couple has moved in two years ago, Clodagh has brought the property back to life.

She set up a vegetable and fruit garden, working bee hives, wild flower meadows, and brought some chickens over too.

The 46-year-old said: “We grow our own vegetables, have our own bee hives, chickens… we’re getting pigs! It’s all very exciting.”

The Irish star and her hubby had a rustic, wild wedding out in the forest of the Highclere Park.

Clodagh explained: “We got married here and I wanted it to be very open, with a wild feeling for the wedding.

“So, we had it right in the middle of the woods. We were all in the middle of the trees for dinner and everything.

“Imelda May sang on the day which was incredible.”
