I’m A Celebrity star Simon Gregson has broken the golden rule after sneaking some contraband into the camp.

It’s alright Simon – it’s not like there are cameras everywhere…

The Coronation Street actor admitted to seasoning his meal with some salt and pepper when questioned by David Ginola, and this can’t be good.

Kadeena Cox, who was appointed camp chef alongside Naughty Boy, wanted an early night as she was feeling unwell, so Simon took over cooking. As Simon was frying up the meal, David asked what he’d added to the pan.

Simon said: ‘It’s just sage,’ with David responding: ‘It’s not sage… there was nothing left.’

Simon admitted in the Telegraph: ‘I smuggled in a tiny amount of salt and pepper… I put on a very tiny amount onto the dinner. To therefore lift the mood of the fellow campmates… it’s all for the greater good.

‘And let’s all learn from it and move forward. I think the punishment is knowing that [jokingly fake crying] I’ve let myself down and I’ve let everybody else down.’

Back in camp, Adam Woodyatt said: ‘What’s that… that’s the penny dropping.’

David warned: ‘Be careful, the walls have ears.’

They do indeed!

However, Simon’s not the only campmate to have tried his luck as Ant and Dec revealed that the celebs made the most of having to leave the castle and quarantine for a few days.

They tried to sneak back items including snacks, a nail file, fake tan and Vaseline, with the Geordie duo showing all the banned items on a recent episode.

Simon, who entered the camp late with EastEnders’ Adam, recently opened up about his soap career and revealed he’s never liked the fame side of it.

‘I hated it,’ he revealed. ‘The fame side of it I hated it. I still don’t [like it].’

The actor, 47, said when he was younger he ‘wanted to join the military or race cars’ but added: ‘I’ve never done anything but play Steve. It’s the only thing I’ve ever done.’

I’m A Celebrity returns Friday at 9pm on ITV.
