King Richard Actors Reveal How They Built a Special Bond Like Venus and Serena Williams

The Warner bros. movie ‘King Richard’ made its debut on the silver screen. The movie depicts the unusual journey of Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams. Richard wrestled against all the odds to transform his young girls into extraordinary players.

‘King Richard’ actors Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton are absolutely thrilled to get in the shoes of Venus and Serena. Moreover, they also developed some great chemistry amongst them, as they believe it was important for the movie.

‘King Richard’ actors developed bond like Venus and Serena Williams

‘King Richard’ shows the insights of how Richard Williams’ determination converted Venus and Serena into professional athletes. Will Smith is playing the lead role in the movie. In addition, young teenagers, Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton have gotten the opportunity to play Venus and Serena Williams respectively.

In an interview, the teenagers talked about jelling up and cultivating an environment of sisterhood. Venus and Serena share a special bond on and off the court, and it was crucial to present such chemistry on the screen.

” We’d go to The Grove every weekend,” said Saniyya Sidney on building up the relationship. Singleton also quoted on the same, ” It was really important not only to us but our director, Mr. Rei [Reinaldo Marcus Green], that our chemistry was real and that our sisterhood was shown onscreen.”

Moreover, even though the shooting shut down in 2020 due to the pandemic, the duo remained in constant contact. It appears like Saniyya and Demi have become quite close friends because of ‘King Richard’.

What did the actors learn from Venus and Serena

Subsequently, in the same interview, the actors also opened about the lessons they learned from pro athletes. Demi Singleton stepped up to speak on the topic.

She said, ” They both have this confidence to them, and you could feel that coming off them every time they walked in a room or stepped onto a court. I feel like playing somebody who’s that confident helped me grow my confidence within myself.”
