Leonard Ellerbe Slams Oscar De La Hoya for Calling Floyd Mayweather Out Again

In the recent past, various boxing legends have entered the ring to take part in exhibition matches. In that list, Floyd Mayweather is also one of the prime boxers who fought in exhibition bouts and made millions of dollars. Just like him, his former adversary, Oscar De La Hoya, too, remained keen on taking up such fights.

In fact, ‘Golden Boy’ even challenged Mayweather many times for a fight. A couple of days back, he called out ‘TBE’ for a ‘real fight’.

But recently, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions and ‘Pretty Boy’s close friend, Leonard Ellerbe, took shots at De La Hoya for his constant call-outs to Mayweather.

Speaking to Fino Boxing, he said, “Man, he’s a clown. I don’t pay him no attention.”

De La Hoya was all set to lock horns with Vitor Belfort in an exhibition bout this September. However, he tested positive for Covid-19, because of which he had to withdraw from the fight. However, ever since he’s recovered, the only thing going on in his mind is taking up the ring space again.

That said, ‘Golden Boy’ called out Mayweather for a fight again and he even made claims about offering his rival $100 million for the fight.

Regardless of his comments, Mayweather seemed unmoved, and he didn’t quite release any statement to showcase his interest in fighting De La Hoya.

Mayweather and De La Hoya collided for the first time in 2007, and back then, this fight was among the news for all the reasons. However, times have changed now, and the hype behind this fight might not be the same.

Also, if Mayweather was to fight ‘Golden Boy’ in an exhibition bout, his team would have anyway got in touch with De La Hoya to finalize a deal.

But until now, nothing has materialized between the two teams and it seems unlikely that this contest will come to life now.
