Safety Car Driver Delivers All-important Intel on Brand New Saudi Arabian Track Amid Concerns

The Formula One paddock is in Jeddah this weekend for the upcoming Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. It is a new track, drivers and teams are curious about what the track has to offer them this weekend. However, one person already drove around the circuit before any of the drivers could. The safety car driver, Bernd Mayländer gives his thoughts on the Jeddah circuit.

It is a new circuit on the F1 calendar, teams don’t have any data available to understand the track. Drivers will get a chance to zip around the track in Friday’s free practice session. But Mayländer already got a chance to test the track and gave an idea of what the track is like.

The challenges of having a new track added to the F1 calendar is that there isn’t any data for the teams to work with. However,Mayländer had the chance to zip around the Jeddah circuit, after which he gave his initial thoughts.

As quoted by Motorsportmagazin.com, Mayländer gave his first thoughts by saying, “F***ing almost!,” even with dust everywhere, the grip around the track is extreme. He additionally said, “Similar to the second year in Turkey.” (Translated from German via Google)

Who leads the driver’s championship as F1 prepares for the Saudi Arabian GP?

With each race, the battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen becomes more intense. There are now only two races left in the championship that could decide the championship’s fate.

As the Formula One paddock prepares to head to Saudi Arabia for the upcoming race, the Dutch driver leads the standings with 351.5 points, while Lewis is second with 343.5. The difference between the two title contenders is only eight points. Both Lewis and Max will push themselves to the limit to be one step closer to the title.
